New Year's Eve Party

The party in the village hall was a great success and about 60 revellers enjoyed dancing to Roger Dunning on accordion and members of the York Ceilidh Club on guitar and violin. The caller was Ros Batchelor. An excellent ‘bring and share’ supper was enjoyed and the profits of the evening which included a raffle were donated to Church funds. Thanks to Sylvia Haynes for organising this event.

Pilates

Pilates continues on Mondays in the Village Hall. Jill Hall plans to offer a beginner’s class as well as the established group. If you are interested in joining a beginner’s class please contact Jill Hall 01653 658210. The intermediate class is fully subscribed.

The Groanbox Boys are on tour...

with Rural Arts and will be visiting Welburn Village Hall on the evening of 8th May. Don’t miss this lively North American trio playing with all the guts of Rock ‘n Roll and soul but with other influences informing their music. ‘Utterly enthralling. This is music that goes deep into the roots of popular music. Mixed in here is West African Griot songs, Deep South blues, Nashville harmonies, East European gypsy dances, even a touch of English Morris Dancing.

It’s not a show – it’s life’ Ben Chu – The Independent

Welburn and District Oil Syndicate

Why not try to save a penny or two a litre on your heating oil purchases by joining the Welburn and District Oil Syndicate?

The scheme works as follows:

I order oil on behalf of the syndicate 6 times a year, the minimum order quantity is 500 litres. You let me know how much you need by the deadline I set and any days in the two weeks following the deadline when you can’t accept delivery.

I phone around for quotes, choose a supplier and order on your behalf and let you know who will deliver at what price and when. It is then up to you to arrange to pay them in advance of delivery. No obligation to buy on every occasion, or to always buy through the syndicate.

I’m happy to accept orders from Welburn, Terrington, Bulmer and Huttons Ambo but could add other nearby villages if oil suppliers will include them.

The next ordering deadlines are 25th February, 22nd April, 15th July, 7th October and 9th December. Please contact Elaine Gathercole on 01653 619276 for more information.
